DUBLIN 1-17 GALWAY 0-13
Dublin bounced back from their opening night disappointment with an encouraging nine-point victory over Galway in Saturday night's NHL Division 1A action in Parnell Park.
Dublin carried a three-point advantage into the second half, 0-10 to 0-7, before two quickfire Niall McMorrow points were followed by a Seán McGrath goal in the 44th minute pushed the Dubs 1-12 to 0-8 clear.
Ger Cunningham's men continued on the front foot with scores form Colm Cronin and two David Treacy frees moving them ten points in front, 1-15 to 0-8.
At that stage Dublin had as good as secured their league points and the eventual outcome was never in doubt
Dublin led 0-10 to 0-7 at the interval having put in a hard-working opening 35 minutes. At the back in the familiar environs of Parnell Park the Dublin defence was a secure unit with Liam Rushe bringing great physicality and controlled aggression to the rearguard.
David Treacy accounted for six of those scores from deadball (five frees, one '65') while Eamonn Dillon caused problems for the Galway rearguard.
David O'Callaghan, Darragh O'Connell and the influential Niall McMorrow also contributed to the scoring stats with Joe Canning the Tribesmen's primary source of scores from frees.
