Cuala and St Brigid’s set for SHC ‘A’ final

Six-times champions Cuala and St Brigid's, in search of a historic first title, meet in this Sunday's Dublin SHC 'A' final at Parnell Park (4.0).

Both sides emerged from Group 2 of the round-robin section and have impressed in their quarter-final and semi-final games.

Cuala have recorded five wins from their five SHC games to date with victories over St Brigid's, St Jude's and Ballinteer St John's in Group 2 before defeating Kilmacud Crokes and St Vincent's in the knockout stages.

The Dalkey club, who are managed by Willie Maher, have scored 12-124 in their five games and conceded 3-62. They last won the title in 2017 (when they completed a three in-a-row), having previously lifted the New Ireland Assurance Cup in 1989, 1991, 1994, 2015 and 2016.

St Brigid's won four of their five SHC encounters to date with victories over Ballinteer St John's and St Jude's in Group 2 having lost their opening tie to Cuala. In the knockout stages they have beaten Na Fianna and Craobh Chiaráin.

The Russell Park outfit, who are managed by Johnny McGuirk, have scored 6-96 and conceded 9-77.

The winner of Sunday's decider will progress to face the Carlow champions in the AIB Leinster Club SHC.

The curtain-raiser on Sunday is the meeting of Scoil Uí Chonaill and Round Tower, Clondalkin in the Leinster IHC play-off (2.0).

Tower's were recently crowned Dublin IHC winners while Scoil won the Dublin SHC 'B'. The winners will advance to face Wicklow senior champions, Bray Emmet's, in the Leinster Club IHC.

In the Leinster Club JHC Fingallians have received a walkover in the opening round, they were due to face Offaly's Clara this weekend. They will now meet Kilkenny's junior champions (Dublin venue) on Saturday, November 2 in the provincial quarter-final.
