Connolly: League has been great prepartion for Championship

Tue, 21st April 2015

Dublin forward Diarmuid Connolly says the Dubs are building for the Championship and Sunday’s NFL Division 1 final against Cork in Croke Park (4.0) is another step along the way.

The Dubs open the defence of their Leinster SFC crown on Sunday, May 31 against Offaly or Longford (part of double-header in Croke Park with SHC of Dublin v Galway).

“We’re in a league final and that’s great. All in all you have to say we're in bonus territory,” says Diarmuid.

"Jim (Gavin) and the management team have blooded many players during the league, so a lot of guys have got valued experience on the pitch at Croke Park and beyond.

"These younger lads are really grounded. They have come in as winners after minor and under-21 success and they’ve given an added boost to the panel.

"They are energetic and are really, really good footballers, both physically and tactically.

"This year the league has really been about preparation for the championship."
