Dublin GAA are saddened by the passing of Con Clarke, former Chairman of the Dublin County Board.
Hailing from the O’Toole’s club, Con was a gentleman and a willing servant to both his club and County.
He has been involved with the Dublin County Board for over 50 years in numerous roles, ranging from O’Toole’s board delegate and member of County Committee to Chairman of the Dublin County Board.
Con served as Chairman of the County board between 1990 – 1992, having previously served as Vice Chairman from 1980 – 1984 and again between 1986 – 1989.
He was also the first ever Chairman of the Dublin Senior hurling board following the reorganisation of the county Board in the 1960s and he served as chairman of the selection committee to the Dublin Senior hurling team in the late 70s and early 80s.
For his beloved club O’Toole's, there was no job too small or too big for Con to take on.
He served on many committees, as County Board delegate, as mentor to countless juvenile teams and indeed served with distinction as Club Chairman in the 1960s.
He also great service to his club on the field of play. Con played corner back in the 1969 Dublin Senior Championship-winning team for O’Tooles- the clubs first ever Senior Hurling Championship win. Indeed, Con has the full collection of Hurling Championship medals, also winning Minor, Junior and Intermediate hurling titles with O’Toole’s.
Con will be missed dearly by his wife, family and his many friends throughout the Dublin GAA community.
