Colm Basquel goal vital as Boden edge out Pat’s

A Colm Basquel goal in the 36th minute paved the way for a Ballyboden victory in this AIB Leinster club SFC quarter-final in the Gaelic Grounds, Drogheda on Sunday.

In a tight battle in difficult conditions Boden battled their way to victory in this low-scoring duel to set up a meeting against Westmeath champions, St Loman's (who defeated Wicklow's Rathnew), in Mullingar in two weeks time.

The men from Lordship started the better with the aid of the elements and points from Karl White (two, one free) and Paddy Keenan had St Pat's 0-3 to 0-0 to the good inside 12 minutes.

Conal Keaney eventually opened the Boden account in the 15th minute and two Andrew Kerin points (one free) level up matters by the 24th minute.

But before the break Danny O'Connor edged the Louth champions in front for them to hold a 0-4 to 0-3 interval lead.

Three minutes into the second half Kerin, from a free, brought equality before the most crucial score of the afternoon when Darren O'Reilly set up Colm Basquel to fire to the net.

Paddy Keenan kept Pat's in touch with a free before a Kerin free put a clear goal between the sides again.

Keenan and Kerin swapped points after before the 60th minute but it was Boden who had they final words when Conal Keaney blasted over two fine injury-time points to set up their match against St Loman's.
