Cian will be back training next week: Jim Gavin

Fri, 17th August 2018

Dublin manager Jim Gavin has confirmed that key defender Cian O'Sullivan will be fit for the All-Ireland SFC final against Tyrone in Croke Park on Sunday, September 2.

The experienced Kilmacud Crokes had to be replaced by Mick Fitzsimons in the 28th minute of last Saturday's semi-final victory over Galway.

“Good news with Cian. He’ll be back training next week,” said Jim at Thursday night's pre All-Ireland final media event.

“It’s good news. You get the normal bumps and bruises that you would associate with a championship game, but we are healthy, which is great.

“It was just a tightness that he felt. That was all. We weren’t going to push it in a competitive game like that so we just took him off and it worked out for us.

“He is a good leader for the team. He drives standards, both on and off the pitch.

“He is obviously a very experienced player and I have been fortunate to work with him through a lot of it. There are a group of players with that experience and it is important going into games like this that we can trade off that.”
