Bryan Cullen: My top 5 Dublin Games

Mon, 11th January 2016

Bryan Cullen has rejoined the Dublin GAA team, he was unveiled as the High Performance Manager for Dublin GAA last Thursday. We'll look back at his Top 5 Dublin Games, as shared with us in an interview last year:

1. Vs. Kerry All Ireland Final 2011

For very obvious reasons! It wasn't my best personal performance, but it was a resilient team display which culminated in a huge last 10 minutes. Once Kev Mc got the goal I'll never forget the noise in the stadium. Hearing the final whistle was a massive relief after a long journey.

2. Vs. Laois, Leinster Final 2005

After being on the senior squad for a couple of years, we had some bad days in '03 and '04 so winning our first our first Leinster Championship under Pillar was a huge moment for the evolution of our team. It's funny when you look back at the scenes at the end of the game now what it meant to the players and the fans, I think everyone in Dublin really enjoyed that victory. It was also one of my best personal performances, I scored 0-3 from wing forward and was named man of the match which was the icing on the cake to a great day.

3. Vs. Kildare, Leinster Final 2009

Ironically I didn't start this game, but I was introduced after 20 minutes at Centre Back. It was one of those games when everything seemed to go right for me and I just seemed to be in the right place at the right time all afternoon. Kildare were a coming team at the time and we knew they were targeting us and our Leinster title, so when we went on to win with 14 men, it was all the sweeter.

4.Vs. Louth, Leinster Championship 2003

My championship debut for Dublin. I'd been lucky enough to play Minor and U21 championship, but making your senior debut is always a special day. It's something I'd dreamed about since I was a kid so that first day in Croke Park was something I'll always remember. We ran out comfortable winners and I chipped in with a few scores.

5. Vs. Tyrone. All Ireland Quarter-Final 2010

This was our first time beating credible opposition outside of Leinster and a big turning point for our team. We were conscious we hadn't delivered against a top team and to beat Tyrone playing the football we did that day was very satisfying. While we didn't go on to win the All Ireland that year it gave us great belief going into 2011 and it was the end of our quarter final losing streak.
