ADULT FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 1 - ROUND-UP

ADULT FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 1 - ROUND-UP

Mon, 20th July 2015

AFL 1 Round-Up 10: 7 of 8 Fixtures went ahead last week with Vincent's and Jude's clashing on Tuesday night in Páirc Nh Uinsionn!

Kilmacud Crokes 1-13 Fingal Ravens 1-5: Last Tuesday Crokes stretched their lead at the top of AFL with an eight-point home victory against this year's surprise package Fingal Ravens, Crokes have knocked them back to reality now with a lot of teams now hot on their heels and looking to bypass them in the mid-table battle. Cuala have edged by Ravens and Jude's, Syls, Raheny and Maur's are just a point or two behind, they will be hoping to ease this pressure with a victory back in Rolestown against struggling Parnell's. Crokes have a quick turnaround and face Syls on Tuesday night in Broomfield.

Ballyboden St. Endas 1-10 St Oliver Plunketts ER 2-11: Plunkett's are back to winning ways after overcoming Boden last Wednesday by 4 and will be looking to use their game in hand to catch up with the Rathfarnham side. Plunketts will look to add to this win with more of the same against Maur's in Martin Savage Park, whilst Boden will look to regroup and recoup against Cuala in Páirc Uí Murchú, both games Wednesday week.

St Maur's 0-10 St Sylvester's 0-9: A possible season changing win for St Maur's. The Rush side beat Syls by the minimum and joined them on 7 points and they're now out of the relegation playoff spot. Maurs face a stern test with a trip to Martin Savage Park on the cards for them, both teams are back to winning ways, who can get a run going? Syls have top of the table Crokes tonight in Broomfield, which has been a bridge too far for all oppositions in AFL1 this year.

St Brigid's 1-8  Raheny 2-12: Raheny conjured up a vital win in Russell Park on Saturday, which now sees them bypass Brigid's in the standings. Brigid's have seen things go from bad to worse with their 5th loss on the trot, they're now in the relegation playoff position with Templeogue and they face each other in Round 11 in Dolphin Park, a huge tie and a must win for both. Raheny take on Jude's on Saturday and a win will see them skip by them into mid-table with a healthy 9 points.

Na Fianna 1-18 Templeogue Synge St 1-9: Templeogue broke a seven-game losing streak last time out against Parnell's, but they couldn't continue their mini resurgence in Mobhi Road. Na Fianna were just too strong and came out 9 point victors in the end. Templeogue face a huge game against Brigid's Wednesday week in Dolphin Park and a win will put them on level pegging with Brigid's and will put survival in AFL1 in their grasp. Na Fianna have a tough top of the table clash with Ballymun in Páirc Ciceam, which has game of the round written all over it.

Cuala 2-12 Thomas Davis 2-12: The only draw of the round came in Hyde Park, Cuala overcame a few stumbling blocks (conceding 2 early goals and they lost a goal keeper to a black card) to get a draw via a last minute free. Both teams are unbeaten in 3 games, 2 wins a draw, Cuala face Boden and Thomas Davis take on Vincent's, these two games will seriously test their streaks.

Parnells 1-8 Ballymun Kickhams 9-12: Ballymun showed no remorse and inflicted  a punishing 28-point loss on Parnells, they have now lost 10 from 10 and they're running out of games with only 5 games to turn this season around, realistically they'll need to win next week in Rolestown against Fingal Ravens to have any chance. Ballymun invite Na Fianna to Páirc Ciceam, they're both sharing second place with Boden, it has the makings of an epic battle with both teams in flying form.
