AFL1 is a third of the way through after this weeks midweek games. The fixtures on Wednesday night saw the clubs invite back their County stars in the week leading up to the first round of the Dublin Football Championships. Some games were marred by tricky conditions, including gale force winds and heavy down pours.
Round-ups:
ST JUDES 2-15 vs PARNELL'S 0-4: The pain goes on for Parnells as they slumped to a 5th defeat in Tymon North and it doesn't get any easier with a Championship tie with Ballymun Kickhams in Parnell Park next Wednesday evening. As for Jude's they have won two on the trot after an uncharacteristically slow start and will look to add to that again with a win against St. Mary's of Saggart next Thursday.
FINGAL RAVENS 0-10 vs CUALA 0-9: A game of two halves, Ravens played with the wind and hailstones in the first half and went in at HT 9-5 to the good, conditions calmed slighty in the Second half, but Cuala couldn't push on to gain well needed points. They may rue these missed opportunities for points. While Cuala haven't yet adjusted to top flight Football, Fingal have grasped the opportunity with both hands, still undefeated with 3 wins and a draw. Cuala meet Ballinteer and Fingal take on Clontarf in next weeks Championship clashes.
ST BRIGIDS 1-13 vs NA FIANNA 1-11: Na Fianna had a lot of youth on show on Wednesday evening and were without Dublin stars Tomas Brady and Johnny Cooper. The experience of Paddy Andrews and Co. shone through, he provided the difference with pivotal scores to see off a gallant Na Fianna effort.
RAHENY 0-14 vs BALLYBODEN ST ENDAS 2-13: Boden came out trumps in St. Anne's Park. Raheny are lingering closer to the bottom after a third defeat. Raheny will face Mearnog on Friday night in the Championship and will look to get back to winning ways.
ST VINCENTS 1-14 vs ST MAURS 1-11: Maurs mustered up a valiant performance due to the venue and opposition, but have still only gained a point from 5 games. They clash with a strong Boden side in the Championship on Wednesday night. Vincents will tackle a potential banana skin that is St. Olafs.
THOMAS DAVIS 1-09 vs KILMACUD CROKES 1-18: A game that look from the outset a foregone conclusion didn't disappoint, Crokes continued their dominance with a win in Kiltipper Road. Crokes top the table and look forward to Whitehall on Wednesday again in Kiltipper Road. Thomas Davis face another very tough task of Na Fianna next Friday night.
TEMPLEOGUE SYNGE STREET 1-07 vs ST OLIVER PLUNKETTS ER 0-13: Times are hard without the O'Gara brothers, Templeogue fell short by 3 points to Plunketts. Templeogue take on the Students next, it has the makings of a great game on Saturday week.
BALLYMUN KICKHAMS 1-16 vs ST SYLVESTERS 0-7: Ballymun inflicted one the heavier defeats of the round on Slys, winning by a margin of 12. A full strength Mun team is a force to be reckoned with, as mentioned earlier they take on Parnells on Wednesday night. They should find themselves in the next round, but you can never tell in Senior Championship, stranger things have happened. Slys take on Division 2 side St. Pats Palmerstown on Friday night and will be quite confident on getting through it unscathed.
