Under 15 - Football/Sliotar sizes for 2022 season

Please note the following change for the 2022 season concerning the U15 Football age grade and the use of a Size 4 Football.

This change is in line with the GAA Central Games Development Committee overwhelming view that from a player development perspective the size 4 ball should be used for the U15 age grade.

The CCC2 position for over 10 years at under 15 was to use the Size 4 Sliotar in Hurling and Size 5 in Football.

To recap for 2022 season.

• U16 Hurling & Football will use Size 5

• U15 Hurling & Football will use Size 4

• U13 & U14 age grades will also use Size 4

It is the intention during 2022 to review the playing rules for the U8 to U12 age grades in both codes. This will give us an opportunity to also look at what equipment to be used including sliotar / football sizes. Therefore, no change in the 2022 season for all Go Games Rules including the U12 age grade.

I also wish to note the receipt from St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh of the following Motion for the Coiste na nÓg AGM: “Motion that Size 4 Football be retained into U15 level”.

SOPER have withdrawn this motion as its objective has been achieved.
