A Rúnaí, a chara,
I attach fixtures for this coming weekend which sees the start of the CCC2 Hurling season.
CCC1 & CCC2 have now created 116 competitions covering the age group U/8 to U/16 in both codes.
While congratulations go to the Senior Hurlers on winning in Nowlan Park for the first time since 1964 , on the home front, a historic occasion took place last Saturday when Ranelagh Gaels U/8s played the clubs first ever hurling match. Well done to all concerned.
Remember the most up to date club contact details can be found at :

CCC1 Referees:
For all CCC1 games the Home Mentor to make contact with the relevant referee coordinator . This should be done by the Thursday night at the latest.
CCC2 Referees:
Can you please bring the following information to the attention of your CCC2 Mentors.
Every Home Mentor is expected to have made contact by 9pm each Wednesday with the assigned Referee for this weekend’s fixture.
If the assigned referee has indicated that he is not available for the fixture, the Home Mentor should have send a text message to 087-9911692 (this is Juvenile Result Text number) informing CCC2 .. eg Damian Murphy Referee NOT AVAILABLE for U13HD1 game on Saturday.
Based on this information, CCC2 will reassign a replacement Referee and a text will be sent to the Home and Away Mentors on Thursday afternoon with the name and contact number of the new Referee.
From Thursday onwards, Derek Doran (087-6593785) should be contacted to source a replacement Referee. The only reason a Mentor should contact Derek is that the Referee, with whom you have previously confirmed his availability, is no longer in a position to take charge of your game.
If the CCC2 Referee assignment process is followed, CCC2 and Derek should expect a few requests each week for replacement referees.
If you speak to Referees they will tell you that Mentors simply don't make contact with them. CCC2 is aware that some issues exist with availability of some referees and will address these issues. However the vast majority of late requests are caused by home mentors only making the initial contact with referees on Thursday or even Friday, assuming that a simple call to CCC2 will sort out any non-availability. In addition, some Mentors feel that while it is appropriate for them to mutually agree with their opposite number in regard to changing the match time of the fixture, they assume the referee will be available and if not CCC2 will sort it out.
Please let your mentors be fully aware that:
Mentors, when dealing with juvenile players (children) and parents, do not make last minute changes to starting times. Therefore the Referee should be informed by the Wednesday if the time of a fixture, or indeed the venue, is changing.
If all parties including the Referee are in agreement there is no problem BUT CCC2 will not accept mentors acting alone without involving the Referee AND assuming CCC2 will sort out any issues.
This behaviour is not acceptable to CCC2 and if it continues there may be consequences.
Please also ensure that your mentor is fully aware that clubs do not appoint referees, that is the function of CCC2. If no referee is available by the start time of a fixture, CCC2 regulations clearly state that the AWAY team takes charge of the game in the absence of a referee.
Finally as all CCC2 Referee contact details ( with their agreement ) appear on the website , CCC2 Mentors should not be contacting Club Referee Coordinators.. The Referee Coordinator in each club allocates our young referees for GO GAME ( CCC1 U/8-U/12) Fixtures only.
Yours in Sport, Damian Damian Ó Murchú
