LUCAN SARSFIELDS 3-17 BALLINTEER ST JOHN'S 1-10
Lucan Sarsfields cruised into the last-eight of the Dublin SFC with this comfortable 13-point victory over Ballinteer St John's on Friday night at Kiltipper Road.
St John's enjoyed their best spell in the early stages with three Shane McCann points (including two frees) had them 0-3 to 0-1 up.
However, scores from Andrew Hope and Seán Newcombe brought the sides level after 11 minutes.
By the interval the tie had turned Lucan's way with two goals before the break affording them a 2-6 to 0-6 advantage.
After 15 minutes good graft by Jack Carey and Darren Gavin culminated in Rory Kelly applying the finish to the net for the first of his two goals in this contest.
The second came from the boot of the influential Brendan Gallagher with a superb finish following good work by former Dublin senior Stephen O'Shaughnessy.
Ballinteer battled back with points from Peter O'Curry, Donal Gormley and Robbie Gaughan to cut the deficit to six points by half-time.
St John's needed a powerful restart but it was their opponents who managed it with Kelly grabbing his second goal just three minutes into the second period.
The Marley Park men did raise a green flag three minutes later when Ciarán Judge was on hand to fire to the net but there was no way back against a dominant Lucan side.
