The accuracy of Colm O’Callaghan and James Carthy saw St Jude’s claim the Dublin IHC title when holding off Raheny by the narrowest of margins, 1-17 to 2-13, at St Peregrine’s last Saturday.
O’Callaghan finished with a tally of 1-7 (0-4f, 0-1 ‘65’) while Carthy fired over four valuable points from play.
Jude’s led 0-12 to 1-6 at the break with Seán Dempsey hitting Raheny’s goal in the eight minute while Greg Bennett was doing well from deadball for the maroons.
Going down the straight there was nothing in it after Bennett’s goal direct from a free saw Raheny cut the deficit to two points.
In a frantic finish O’Callaghan and Dempsey exchanged points before a Greg Bennett free cut the margin to just one … but Jude’s hung on for victory.
