Dublin LGFA decide not to request replay

Dublin LGFA  have decided not to request a replay of Sunday's TG4 All-Ireland ladies senior football final.

The Sky Blues lost by a point against Cork at Croke Park but had a legitimate Carla Rowe score ruled out in the first half.

Dublin officials met on Monday morning and while they will not appeal the result, they will be making representations to Ladies Gaelic Football Association top brass that HawkEye be introduced for next year’s final.

An LGFA spokesperson explained after yesterday’s game that an Association Central Council meeting voted not to introduce the score detection technology.

But Sunday’s events will hasten calls for change and it’s almost certain that HawkEye will be in place for the 2017 decider.

A statement issued on Monday afternoon from the Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Association congratulates Cork on winning the All-Ireland title, but also expresses disappointment that the scoring error “could not be rectified on the field of play”.

Rather than pushing for a replay/refixture, Dublin top brass now intend to “focus our efforts to require that LGFA put processes in place so that no other team is subjected to such a situation”.

The statement in full reads: “Dublin Players, Management and Executive congratulate Cork on winning the 2016 Senior All-Ireland final.

“We wish it to be noted that we are very disappointed that the score error could not be rectified on the field of play and we will focus our efforts to require that LGFA put processes in place so that no other team is subjected to such a situation.

“Dublin LGFA will be making no further comment on this issue.”
