Elation for Castleknock, utter dejection for Fingallians in Parnell Park on Sunday when the rise up the ladder of football for the Dublin 15 side took another step with their IFC final victory.
Enda Murphy's men prevailed 1-10 to 1-7 after a strong first half showing gave them a five-point interval advantage but they were pushed all the way in the second half before coming out on top.
For Fingallians it is the third year in-a-row that were defeated in the IFC final.
The Swords men got off to a great start with Paul Flynn's early goal but Castleknock responded in the ninth minute with a goal of their own through Kevin Kindlon.
The crucial spell for the eventual winners came towards the close of the half when they struck six unanswered points from Matt Griffin (two), Dessie Carlos (free), Kevin Kindlon and Tom Quinn ('45').
Points from Paul Flynn and Mark Gibson lifted Fingallians on the restart and with ten minutes remaining there was only a point in it after further scores from Donal Farrell and Donie Keane.
However, Castleknock held strong to secure senior championship football in 2015.
